Apprentices ring up job success with Axis Telecom

Axis Telecom has expanded its team with four new full-time employees after they completed their apprenticeships and vocational qualifications.

The Hull-based telecoms company is an approved learning centre and has its own training manager and NVQ assessor.

Apprentices learn while they work in the busy customer service and administration teams, receiving ongoing support and training to achieve their qualifications.

Katie Broadbent, Faye Beasley and Sarah Welsh all gained NVQ Level 2 Business Admin, and Jodie Kiel gained NVQ Level 2 Customer Service. All now are full-time employees at Axis Telecom.

Axis Managing Director David Meyers said: “Apprenticeships are tried and tested ways for young people to embark on a career, fully equipped with the qualifications and experience they need. At the same time, Axis benefits from having motivated and skilled employees who know how the business operates and have grown into their roles.

“I’m very proud of the team at Axis Telecom and particularly pleased when hard-working and talented local young people make the grade.”

Axis Telecom has a national customer base, made up of both businesses and consumers, and offers a range of services, from fixed telephone lines and broadband, to specialist business services, such as VOIP, call recording and auto answering, queuing and messaging.

In May, Axis helped to open up local telecoms competition by becoming one of the first operators to offer businesses in Hull an alternative telecom service to that supplied by the former council-owned KC. A month earlier, the company announced it had become one of Orange’s mobile virtual network operators to offer cut-price minute-and-text bundles.
